Vancouver, BC
It has been ahile since I last updated the blog section of my website, and a lot has happened since 2021! From 2022 - 2024, I was very, very busy with a few research projects that received federal funding all at the same time, including a very intensive one for me, on trauma-informed heat resilience planning with community partners in Roanoke Virginia. I expect there will be updates on this work in the coming year, so stay tuned.
The biggest change though, is that I left Virginia Tech at the end of 2024 to come the the School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP) at the University of British Columbia. I have just finished my second semester of teaching here. While it was difficult to leave the great students, colleagues, and community partners I worked closely with while at Virginia Tech, I am so excited about my new chapter here at UBC! In particular, I am enjoying learning about all the community-engaged work that is occurring here, learning about the context of Vancouver, BC, and Canada, and being in such a multicultural and dynamic region, surrounded by lots of natural beauty.
I’m not quite sure what I will use this blog for in the future, but hope I will be better about updating it than I have in the past…
